Simon's personal
library covers
a broad range of primary and secondary sources relating to
the history of architecture, landscape design, construction
technology, local history and popular culture. The collection
is particularly strong on Australian architecture of the post-Second
World War period, and includes substantial runs of trade, professional
and popular journals, directories, catalogues, pamphlets and other
ephemera.
The
library includes a number of items that were formerly in the possession
of noted twentieth century Australian architects and firms, including Gordon Banfield (of Bogle & Banfield), Charles J Christopher, Babs Delaney, Stephen Dorling, Alec Eggleston, Godfrey Spowers Hughes Mewton & Lobb, F Bruce Kemp, George Mitchell (of Mockridge, Stahle & Mitchell), Keith Reid, K W Shugg (of Bush, Haslock, Shugg & Moon), Harry Winbush and Yuncken, Freeman Brothers, Griffiths & Simpson. An extensive run of the journal Architecture & Arts
was purchased from a former client of Robin Boyd. A list of these
books, arranged according to their provenance, can be viewed here.
